| Flowers for the happy couple |
Eileen presents Sioned with some flowers as she is marrying Ed;
| Eileen makes peace with Ed |
she tells him, “We haven’t been the best of friends, but if my daughter is happy, then I am too, and will help in any way I can.” Sioned wonders where they can find a venue for the reception, and Eileen suggests the barn at Penrhewl.
| "We'll be close to Dad and Auntie Marian" |
Ed is not keen, but Sioned thinks it a good idea; “We’ll be close to Dad and Auntie Marian there!”
| Sioned says Angela caused the wedding to be brought forward |
When Angela comes in, Sioned tells her that because of her, Ed wanted to bring the wedding forward. He is eager to leave,
| "Have you heard from Jim?" |
and after they have gone, Angela asks Eileen if she has heard from Jim. “I can’t contact him,” Eileen replies, “And I had to tell Sioned he was on a Health and Safety course for APD – more lies! I don’t know how many more secrets I can keep.” Angela is confident it will be all over in a month.
| "Go on, open it!" |
Ffion has a letter from the police, and is reluctant to open it, but when she does,
| "They're dropping the case!" |
she finds that they are dropping the case, as there is a lack of evidence.
| Gethin hugs Ffion |
Gethin is very happy, but she reminds him, “It still doesn’t say that I’m innocent!”
| She rings the school |
She phones Gaynor to find out when she can start back at school.
| Britt takes offence, again |
As Britt mops the chip shop floor, Gwyneth brings in a large black bag of her clothes from Y Felin. “Take them back – you have no right!” moans Britt, and when Gwyneth simply walks away,
| "You haven't heard the last of this!" |
she shouts up the street after her, “You haven’t heard the last of this!”
| "The police can't do their job!" |
Then she sees Gethin, and starts on him; “I bet you’re delighted about Ffion – the police can’t do their job!” Gethin leaves, pointing out there is no evidence,
| She sees herself in happier times |
as she looks in the bag and finds a picture of herself with two of the children.
| "I've been to Aberdeen to see Adrian" |
When Jim appears at APD, Diane first berates him; he admits that he should have phoned and said where he was. “I went to Aberdeen to see my brother Adrian, got back last night and slept in the car.”
| "You could do with a cup of tea" |
Diane’s mood softens and she offers him a cup of tea.
| "The case has been dropped" |
Gethin goes to the shop, where he tells Eileen that the case against Ffion has been dropped; “You had some trouble with Chester a while ago, didn’t you?” he asks,
| Eileen's mind is elsewhere |
but Eileen changes the subject. “I saw Jim just now on his way to APD – he looked terrible!” says Gethin. Eileen cannot wait to get him out of the shop, so she can close for a few minutes.
| "You can't come back to school yet" |
At school, in her office, Gaynor explains, “These things are never black and white. You can’t come back to school yet – I have no choice. You’re too close to Chester, and have spent too much time with him.”
| "I did what you told me to do!" |
Ffion responds that this was what she was supposed to do, helping him, as instructed by Gaynor. “You showed favouritism to him, and as a result, we have to investigate further.
| "So this letter is worthless" |
“There will be an internal disciplinary panel after Easter,” Ffion is told. She walks out, concluding that the letter from the police is good for nothing.
| Jim is reluctant to talk |
Diane tries to elicit more information from Jim about his brother,
| "We need to talk" |
and then Eileen arrives; they go out to the yard of APD for privacy.
| "I've been worried sick!" |
“Where have you been? I’ve been worried sick!” says Eileen, “I’m your wife.” He replies that no-one would think that, the way he has been treated.
She is keen to know if he has told anyone Angela’s secret;
| "Angela's lies, you mean" |
“Angela’s lies, you mean? No, I’m too ashamed,” he says. When Eileen explains the plan they have hatched, taking Angela to Pembrokeshire and pretending she has gone to America,
| "Do you get kicks from lying to people?" |
his response is, “Do you get kicks from lying to people or what?”
She explains that Courtney does not want the truth to come out, and that it can work, if they are all 100% behind it. She emphasises how strongly Courtney feels about it, and Jim realises, “I don’t have any choice then, do I?”
"I'm back in Cwmderi, but not with you!"
She tells him that she is glad he is back, but he elucidates, “I’m back in Cwmderi, but not with you!” Eileen objects when he turns his back on her, but he reminds her that she has done the same to him. “Just stay out of my way!” he tells her.
Britt becomes confrontational
Britt insists her belongings are not going anywhere, and warns against dumping any more on the chip shop floor.
Jim devours his sandwich
At APD, Diane shares her tuna and cucumber sandwiches with Jim; “I couldn’t help noticing there was tension between you and Eileen,” she remarks.
Jim confesses, “I’ve moved out, and I’m sleeping in the car, unless some kind friend puts a roof over my head – temporarily.”
| "Of course you can stay" |
Diane readily agrees that he can stay at Bryntirion, and is sure it will not take long to sort out the problem.
“Every couple have their problems – and it must be difficult with Ed and Sioned staying there,” she tells him.
Sioned is busy planning
Sioned is wedding planning on the laptop in the Deri, asking Ed if he has chosen a best man. He does not think that one is necessary – “We could use the scarecrow from Penrhewl!”
She assigns the arrangement of the honeymoon to him, stipulating, “Pick somewhere nice!”
| "Come over for dinner tomorrow" |
Then Angela comes in and Sioned invites her and Courtney over to dinner tomorrow to choose dresses. Ed is surprised that Angela is to be a bridesmaid, as she is already married. “Ignore him, Ange,” says Sioned.
She says it is not fair on Ed and Sioned, as they are getting married soon. Jim is not impressed with this news; “Has the whole world gone mad?’ he asks, “If you don’t want to use Ed and Sioned as an excuse, find another reason.”
Gaynor is subjected to Britt's questioning
Gaynor has called at the chippy for some sustenance; Britt demands,
| "What are you going to do about Ffion?" |
“What are you going to do about Ffion? Getting off scot free for what she did, you should be ashamed!” Gaynor tells her about the disciplinary panel, and is told, “Well, that’s something, at least.”
Then she starts winding up Gwyneth
Britt sees Gwyneth going into the café and runs across the road; “No more bags have landed on the chip shop floor, so you’ve obviously listened to me,” she begins,
| "Siôn will soon see through you!" |
“Siôn will soon see through you – whatever’s between you won’t last long. I know what’s important to him!”
You're jealous!"
With a broad smile, Gwyneth announces, “You’re jealous because I mean more to him already than you ever did!” Britt angrily returns across the road.
Angela wants to see Ed – again
Ed receives a message from Angela; “Can you meet me at the Deri at 7?”
| "Oh, I saw Jim at APD" |
Sioned is surprised that Jim is not back yet from the course, and Ed mentions that he saw him this morning at APD.
"He's moved out – temporarily"
Eileen has to confess that he has moved out temporarily; “We had a silly argument about the future of Penrhewl – that’s all,” and Sioned decides that after dinner she will go and see him to put a stop to this nonsense.
"We don't want you apart for the wedding"
“We don’t want you apart for the wedding,” says Sioned, and Eileen is sure they will be back together by then.
Diane has cooked a roast dinner
Diane has cooked a Sunday roast at Bryntirion as they have a guest. Jim rather misguidedly comments, “If I knew I was going to be spoiled, I would have left Eileen before now!” and then realises what he has said.
| "Sorry, that's not funny" |
“Sorry, that is not funny – none of this is funny at all.”
Diane offers to be a ‘go-between’ if this will help, but Jim regrets,
| "It's over – and that's that!" |
“I don’t think there’s any point. We’ve got nothing else to say to each other. It’s over – and that’s that!”
Ed finds Angela in the Deri, and is uneasy about meeting her in a public place.
| "Here's your earring" |
He gives back her earring and asks what she wants.
| "That was just a mistake" |
“I wanted to clear the air before this meal tomorrow night, about what happened on Friday,” she tells him. Ed says that it was a mistake, but she replies, “There’s no point in denying it – I know that’s why you asked Sioned to marry you sooner.
"You're trying to ignore what's going on between us"
“You’re trying to ignore what’s going on between us, but you can’t because I’m here to remind you.”
"You mean nothing to me!"
Ed warns her against getting ideas, as she does not mean anything to him. “I don’t believe you – it would be quite easy for me to stop you two getting married!” she replies.
| "What will it take for you to keep your mouth shut?" |
He demands what it would take for her to keep her mouth shut.
| "A bit of comfort – just like Friday night!" |
She spells it out to him, “A bit of comfort from you now and again – just like Friday night. Do we have a deal?”
