17 March 2016

"Britt should be doing this – I've got a salon to run!"
Dani is argumentative as she puts up St Patrick’s Day decorations in the Deri;
"She might decide to have another day off!"
“I’ve got to do it – Britt might have another day off!” she grumbles, but just then Britt and Chester come in.
"Chester has come to help"
“No school today?” Dani asks, and is told that Chester is upset.   Britt adds that she was not going to put the shamrocks up there;
"If I left it to you, they'd still be in the box!"
Dani replies, “If I left it to you, they’d still be in the box!”
Ffion wants a private word with Siôn
Ffion visits Y Felin early, while Siôn and Gwyneth are still in their dressing gowns, wanting a word in private with Siôn;  he says that he has no secrets from Gwyneth.
"Will you be a character witness?"
Ffion enquires, “I want to ask a favour – if this Chester business goes to court, will you be a character witness?   I know it’s a big favour, but you’re one of my most loyal friends.”
Gwyneth issues instructions to instructions
Gwyneth interrupts, “You’re not doing it!   Don’t get dragged in – you’ve had enough on your plate lately.”
"Well, it is complicated . . ."
Compliantly, Siôn answers that it is a complicated situation, as he still is Chester’s step-father.   Ffion tells him to forget it, and storms out.
"I'm your partner, and I need looking after"
Gwyneth justifies herself, “You’re a good man, and worry about everyone, but you need to start looking after yourself.   I’m your partner and I need looking after.”
"What are you doing with the café accounts?"
After crashing on the sofa at Maes-y-Deri last night, Debbie stumbles back to her flat, complete with hangover, and finds Vicky looking at the café accounts on the laptop, wondering how to pay the bills.   Debbie suggests remortgaging,
"You can't pay the bills you've got now!"
but Vicky reminds her, “You can’t pay the bills you’ve got now!”   Debbie does not want Mark to know about this or he will blame himself.
"Bacon sandwiches – plenty of fat!"
Downstairs, Dol, complete with dark glasses and also feeling the after-effects of last night’s party, comes in with Mark;  she orders from Gwen, “Two bacon sandwiches – with plenty of fat!   I hate hangovers!”
What a surprise – Dol forgot her purse
and then characteristically adds, “Damn – I forgot my purse!”
The happy couple welcome Mark home
Siôn and Gwyneth come in and welcome Mark home;  Mark enquires how long they have been together.   Gwyneth is sure that Dol will tell him, but Dol merely replies, “It’s none of my business who’s sleeping with who – but I hope he’ll be as happy with you as he was with Britt!”   Gwyneth regards this as a back-handed compliment.
Gwen delivers two delicious bacon sandwiches
As soon as Gwen brings over their food, Dol jumps up, saying, “I’ve got to go!” and hurries towards the toilets, making unpleasant retching noises.
"Lucky you weren't here last night"
In the Deri, Dani tells Britt it is lucky she was not there last night, as everyone was talking about Siôn and Gwyneth.   “That doesn’t bother me – or surprise me – he’s lost the plot!” is Britt’s response.
Ffion receives a hostile reception
When Ffion comes in, Garry tells her he has nothing to say to her,
Britt protects Chester
and Britt rushes to Chester’s defence.   Ffion maintains there has been a misunderstanding, but Britt argues she is upsetting Chester, so Ffion turns and leaves.   Garry gets his coat and follows her.
Debbie on the laptop
Debbie closes her laptop as Mark comes upstairs;  “You’re hiding something, aren’t you?” he demands,
"You're hiding something, aren't you?"
“You, Vicky and Dol – you always change the subject when I’m around.   I’m not stupid!”
Debbie discovers a bundle of cash
Debbie pretends to be tidying up, and moves a picture, dislodging an envelope which falls to the floor;  she finds a bundle of cash inside.
"I have no idea where it came from!"
Mark does not believe her when she swears she has no idea where it came from.
The menacing pub landlord
Garry pays a menacing visit to Cysgod y Glyn, threatening Ffion that she is to stay away from Chester, Britt and the rest of the family.   “I don’t believe you – no-one jokes about being abused!
"I'll have no choice but to do it myself!"
You’re the one with problems, and if the law doesn’t sort you out, I’ll have no choice but to do it myself!”
Before he goes, he gives her a small gift, a bottle of vodka.   “This will sort out your problems,” he says.
Ffion is faced by her demons
Ffion looks furiously at it.
"You know anything about this?"
Debbie marches into the salon and confronts Vicky;  “Do you know anything about this?” she asks, brandishing the cash.   Vicky assures her that she is skint.
As Debbie demands why it was hidden in the flat, Mark comes in;
"Did you two kill him?"
he asks, “Is it Dewi’s money?   Did you two kill him and then frame me?
"It all makes sense"
It all makes sense – the phone hidden, at Maes-y-Deri.”
When Debbie argues she has spent weeks trying to get him out, he takes that to be a guilty conscience.
"I loved Dewi – why would I kill him?"
Vicky assures Mark that she loved Dewi – why would she kill him?
"You're definitely hiding something"
Mark then comes to his senses and apologises for his accusation, but is still convinced that they are hiding something.   Vicky suggests that the money was possibly stolen by Gran;  after all, she stole stuff from the salon.
Returning to the Deri, Garry lies that he had a few problems to sort out at the garage.
Britt wants Siôn out of the Deri
When Siôn and Gwyneth arrive, Britt tells them they are not welcome, but this is overruled by Garry, who warns her,
"Leave your personal feelings at the door!"
“This is a business – you leave personal feelings at the door!   You left him long before he got together with Gwyneth.”
Britt snarls, “I wouldn’t let him look after a dog!” and walks out.
"Is this money yours?"
At Maes-y-Deri, Debbie demands if the money belongs to Dol;  still feeling ‘under the weather’,
"Can't a woman die in peace?"
Dol replies, “Can’t a woman die in peace?   I know it’s small – but use your brain!   Do you really think I’d hide cash at your place?”
"Oh – Ricky!"
Vicky has a sudden thought;  “Oh – Ricky!   He might know something – he took Kelly’s purse a few weeks ago.”
"Let's have him home from school!"
Debbie is furious to hear this, and demands that Mark ring the school to send him home.
Chester boasts of manipulating his mother
Chester and three of his mates are swaggering down the street with their boxes of chips.   Chester boasts, “I only have to look a bit upset and Mam lets me have my own way!”
"Does that include snogging Mrs Llywelyn?"
His mate asks if that includes snogging Mrs Llywelyn;  “If you were as good-looking as me, perhaps you’d get some action,” answers Chester,
"I don't kiss and tell"
“I don’t kiss and tell.”
Dani overhears . . .
Dani happens to be putting out the salon rubbish and overhears this conversation,
. . . then listens intently
so she listens further.   When asked if it was just snogging, or whether it went further – even if he slept with her,
"Only I know that – and her, of course!"
Chester states, “Only I know that – and her, of course!   I’ve already said too much!”
Ricky finds that his stash has gone
Ricky, back from school, finds his hidingplace at the café flat disturbed and the money gone;  he looks very concerned.
Ffion decides what she is going to do . . .
After looking at it for some time, Ffion puts on her coat, grabs the bottle and storms out of the flat.
. . . but has to run the gauntlet of jeering youths
She meets Chester’s three mates, who taunt her as they pass;  “We’ve just been hearing about you, Miss!”
"Leave her alone – and clear off!"
Dani steps in and orders them to leave her alone.   “Pity she didn’t leave Chester alone,” they reply.
"That pathetic husband of yours"
Ffion is expecting more abuse from Dani, who is only worried that she is drinking again.   “Do you really think I would?” Ffion demands, “It’s about time you and that pathetic husband of yours opened your eyes! Chester is making fools out of you!”
Siôn question the Deri policy on saints' days
As Siôn is objecting to all the fuss in the Deri about St Patrick’s Day after ignoring St David’s Day, and Garry is telling him that is what the punters want,
"You don't scare me with your threats!"
Ffion marches in and puts the unopened bottle on the bar.   “You don’t scare me with your threats!   I’m innocent, and I’m going to prove it!”   So saying, she marches out again.
"That's going to help, isn't it?"
comments, “Threatening her – that’s going to help, isn’t it?”
"Time for Uncle Garry to have a word!"
Dani informs Garry that Chester is telling lies;  she heard him bragging to his friends about him and Ffion – and what happened between them.   “I would say it’s time for Uncle Garry to have a word!” she suggests.
"It's nothing to do with me!"
After initially denying any knowledge of the money, Debbie explains that if the police find the money in her flat, she may be sent to prison, just as his father has been released.
"I did it to help Dad get out!"
“All right, I stole it!   I did it to help Dad get out!” admits Ricky.
"Garry had no right to threaten you like that"
Having witnessed the confrontation in the Deri, Siôn goes to Cysgod y Glyn and offers his assistance;  “I don’t know what happened between you and Chester, but Garry had no right to threaten you like that
Ffion is relieved to have some support
– that is why I’m willing to help.   I’ve known you for years and I’m well aware of your problems – and your strengths.
"I've never met such a lying coward!"
I know Chester too – I know him well, and I’ve never met such a lying coward in my life!”
"The solicitor was so expensive!"
Ricky explains that there was no other way, as the solicitor was so expensive.   Debbie is aghast that he stole from people they know.   “I know it was wrong, but I had to do something – I wanted Dad back!   I wouldn’t have done it, but we were desperate!”
"I can't be angry with you"
Mark hugs him, confessing, “It breaks my heart, but I suppose you did it for the right reason, so I can’t be angry with you.”   Debbie poses the question of what they are going to do with the money.
"I say we should keep it – we could do with it!"
Vicky wants to give it back, but Dol is in favour of keeping it.
“I can’t believe I’m saying this,” begins Mark, “But I agree with Dol.   If we are honest about this, Ricky could end up in jail.   I’ve been through hell, and I don’t want anyone else going through that.
"We keep our mouths shut!"
Anyway, it’s done now, so we keep our mouths shut, and that’s the end of it.”
