| Angela is back again |
Next morning, Angela comes to the shop to remind her mother,
![]() |
| "It's better if you don't tell Sioned" |
“You do remember that it’s better if you don’t tell Sioned?”
Gethin and Ffion come in and ask how the funeral went yesterday;
![]() |
| "I heard some scandal – Siôn and Gwyneth!" |
Eileen tells them, “I heard some scandal there – Siôn and Gwyneth! It looks as if they are a couple!
![]() |
| Ffion was not expecting that |
“And Megan was livid, as you’d expect with Siôn about to become a minister.”
Chester comes in and says he will see Ffion at school,
![]() |
| "I'm working from home today" |
but she enlightens him that she will be working from home today; “Writing a report on the school’s pastoral care policy, if I can stay awake!”
![]() |
| "What was that about Siôn?" |
Britt, who has come in with Chester, asks what they were saying about Siôn, and Eileen tells her.
![]() |
| "All right, I won't say a word" |
Angela wants to know when she and Eileen can talk, but Eileen assures her that she will keep quiet.
![]() |
| Sioned in her pyjamas |
Upstairs, Sioned is in her pyjamas on the sofa, next to Marian’s teaset; “We should cancel this engagement,” she tells Ed, “We won’t get a very nice wedding for £700.” Ed attempts to point out that getting married is important, not the actual wedding ceremony.
![]() |
| Ed tells her about Dewi's phone |
He is going out, and after pressure is applied by Sioned, he admits that Dewi’s phone is hidden under the sink in the Deri flat, and he hopes to retrieve it, after several unsuccessful attempts. “I couldn’t dump it, because of the CCTV,” he says. She tells him to make sure he gets it this time.
![]() |
| "Heard the news about your father and Gwyneth?" |
When Iolo enters the Deri, Britt asks him, “Heard the news about your father and Gwyneth yet?” She tells him that she and Gwyneth almost got back together again, and that Siôn saw them together.
![]() |
| A determined Sioned, wearing pyjamas, out in the street, |
Sioned, still in her pyjamas, marches out of the shop, carrying the teaset in its box and walks along the street, with Eileen in pursuit.
![]() |
| She indulges in some target practice |
The box is put down in the middle of the road and Sioned begins hurling the crockery at the door of Bethania. Gethin’s car is impeded by Sioned,
![]() |
| Gethin helps to subdue her |
and he gets out to help Eileen restrain her.
![]() |
| "Garry and Dani only help when it suits them" |
Britt bemoans the fact that she is having to do all the work at the Deri, and Ed offers to help carrying boxes of crisps.
![]() |
| "Right, is the coast clear?" |
When Britt ‘pops out the back’ he seizes his chance,
![]() |
| "Do you know why the shop is closed?" |
but his dash upstairs is prevented by Angela, who is worried about the shop being closed.
![]() |
| "So it's true, then? |
Iolo walks into Y Felin to find Siôn and Gwyneth having their breakfast; “So it’s true, then?” he exclaims, “Do you know how much you’ve hurt Britt?” Siôn replies that she does not want anything to do with him. Iolo adds, “How do you think Garry will react? He’ll think it is his business, as you’ve hurt Britt, and it involves Gwern.”
Siôn urges him, “Just be happy for me,” but Iolo leaves.
![]() |
| "I panicked a bit at school" |
Chester turns up at Cysgod y Glyn, on the pretext that he panicked a bit, and Ffion reminds him he is not allowed to leave the school during the day.
![]() |
| "Please don't make me go back!" |
“Please don’t make me go back – I feel safe here!” he whines, and Ffion agrees, if he works quietly.
![]() |
| "That teaset was worth a lot of money" |
Sioned and Eileen are drinking tea, with Sioned complaining, “Typical – I broke the only thing that could have paid for a nice wedding!”
![]() |
| Ed hears there has been an 'accident' |
When Ed returns, Eileen tells him that there has been ‘an accident’ with the teaset.
“Just for once I wish that things would go my way,” says Sioned, “But I can’t begrudge Angela the money, can I?” Eileen, after a moment’s thought, replies that she has to understand that Angela accepted that £50,000 under false pretences.
![]() |
| Eileen reveals the truth about Angela . . . |
This puzzles Sioned; “I want you to claim that money for yourself,”
![]() |
| . . . and Sioned is incredulous |
Eileen insists, “I’m telling you that Angela is not ill – there is no aneurysm – it’s all a lie!”
![]() |
| "What's this that Mam is saying?" |
Sioned wastes no time in going to confront Angela, demanding why their mother is saying she is not ill.
![]() |
| "She won't accept it – she's in denial!" |
“She won’t accept it – she’s in denial!” replies Angela, “I see it sometimes as a nurse – people are so upset by the diagnosis, they refuse to believe it. Mam has already buried one child, perhaps she can’t face burying another.
![]() |
| "Try to help her accept it" |
“Be gentle with her, try to help her to accept it.”
![]() |
| "Should we call a doctor?" |
When Sioned suggests consulting a doctor, she is told that it would be better to keep the matter to themselves for now.
![]() |
| "Why didn't you have the decency to tell me?" |
Britt goes to see Gwyneth, moaning, “I had to find out about you and Siôn in the shop this morning. Why didn’t you have the decency to tell me what was going on? You think you mean something to someone, and then they hurt you.”
![]() |
| "We couldn't go back to the way we were" |
Gwyneth points out that is what she had hoped, and that they cannot go back to the way they were. In any case it is early days with Siôn. Just then he comes in through the back door, and Britt comments,
![]() |
| "Hello – it's only me!" |
“Early days is it?” After she has stormed out, threatening, “Don’t think you’re seeing those kids again!”
![]() |
| Siôn hugs Gwyneth |
Siôn and Gwyneth hug.
After making herself a cup of tea, Ffion sits down again in front of her laptop;
![]() |
| He cannot take his eyes off Ffion |
all the while, Chester is gazing at her. He says, “I’m stuck – I have to write a portrayal for Welsh.
![]() |
| "I can't put it into words" |
“I know what I want to say, but can’t put it into words,” as he stands close behind her.
“Tell me in your own words what you want to say, and we’ll go from there,” she advises him.
![]() |
| "I think the world of this person" |
He begins, “I think the world of this person – the world and more! She makes me laugh in a way no-one else can, she’s kind and pretty.” Ffion enquires whether this someone at school, and suggests he could say more about her, such as what her interests are.
![]() |
| "It's you!" |
“It’s you,” he replies and attempts to stroke her face.
![]() |
| "What do you think you're doing?" |
She demands what he thinks he is doing.
![]() |
| "I love you and you love me!" |
He continues, “I love you and you love me – I know you do – you like being with me and want to be with me!” Again he moves towards her, but she shouts at him to stop.
![]() |
| "I want you to leave!" |
“I am your teacher, don’t forget that!” Ffion sternly warns him, “Pupils get crushes on teachers – you’ll get over it, but I want you to leave, or I shall have to tell Mrs Llywelyn!
![]() |
| "Please don't tell anyone!" |
Chester is concerned that she will tell Gethin.
“I won’t tell anyone else,” promises Ffion, “We’ll forget about it if you go now, and stop writing that portrayal.” He grabs his stuff and goes.
![]() |
| Iolo's 'glow-plug thingies' have been sorted out |
Outside, Gethin has just cured a minor problem with Iolo’s van; “Just the glow-plug thingies,” he explains. Then they see Chester emerge from Cysgod y Glyn; Gethin pops home to see Ffion.
![]() |
| "He was just worried about his mother" |
She tells him that Chester was worried about his mother, now that Siôn is with Gwyneth;
![]() |
| "I can't refer it to Gaynor" |
“I can’t refer it to Gaynor – she would think I can’t do my job without running to her.”
In the Deri, when Britt admits to Iolo that she will have to accept that she is on her own now, he assures her he will help with the kids whenever he can;
![]() |
| "That Tyler is driving me nuts!" |
“I’ll be glad to get out of number 7 – that Tyler is driving me nuts!”
![]() |
| They want a sensible chat about the children |
Then Siôn and Gwyneth enter, wanting a sensible chat about the children.
![]() |
| "I won't discuss them with her here!" |
Britt insists, “I won’t discuss them with her here! What’s the problem, Gwyneth? Afraid of getting blamed for breaking up the White family? That all depends on what I tell people! Gwyneth always puts herself first!”
![]() |
| "Come on, be reasonable" |
Siôn urges her to be reasonable; “How’s this for reasonable?” she snarls, “I’m going to cancel your responsibility for the kids. You’re not fit to be a husband or a father!” As they turn to leave, she adds, “Go on – I hope you choke on each other!”
Sioned reveals that she has been to see Angela, and when Eileen reiterates that the aneurysm is a lie, she commiserates,
![]() |
| Angela has brainwashed Sioned now |
“I know that’s what you want to believe, but you can’t! Angela says you won’t accept that she is ill – I know it’s difficult for you, but I’m here for you.”
![]() |
| However, Ed is more dubious about Angela |
When Ed comes in, Sioned tells him that Mam maintains the illness is a lie; “Maybe it is,” Ed answers, but Sioned cannot believe anyone would lie about an aneurysm. He apologises that he could not get the phone.
“We shall have to put it on the ‘to-do list’,” she says, “With caring for Angela and keeping Mam out of the asylum!” Ed adds that they have a wedding to think of as well.
![]() |
| Angela begins to think she is invincible |
Down in the shop, Angela taunts Eileen, “It must be disappointing when you tell the truth and no-one believes you! Sioned believes me, and so does everyone else.
![]() |
| "If I can lie in front of a chapel full of people" |
“It’s easy – if I can lie in front of a chapel full of people, I won’t have any problem at the auction.”
![]() |
| "I'm not the one with a mental illness round here!" |
Eileen’s retort is, “I’m not the one with the mental illness round here!” but Angela challenges her to prove it, and walks out, leaving her mother in tears.
![]() |
| Ffion relaxes in the evening . . . |
In the evening, Ffion is dozing on the sofa when her iPhone rings; there is no caller ID, so she answers,
![]() |
| . . . when she receives an anonymous, silent call . . . |
but there is no reply to her question, “Hello, who’s there? Is anyone there?”
![]() |
| . . . and on the other end is Chester |
Chester smiles as he listens to Ffion’s voice.
