Sioned has a list of invitations and details Ed to fill in the missing postcodes from her Christmas card list. When he suggests that it would be nice if Gemma and Andrew were there, she replies,

“It was not my fault they went away. Anyway, it was your idea to get married earlier. Have you given any thought to a honeymoon?”
Ed knows some nice hotels in Edinburgh, Dublin and Paris, but she reminds him that this is not a rugby trip.

He has by now finished ironing his trousers, and puts them on.

Eifion asks if there is a cup of tea for him; Angela replies, “Oh, you’re speaking to me this week – you barely said a word over the weekend.” He asks what would be the point, and she maintains they have to talk; “That’s what husbands and wives do!”

“I’m fed up with listening to you two arguing!” Courtney interrupts, and then they simultaneously receive texts from Sioned,

| Sioned is coming to talk 'bridesmaid stuff' |
advising that she is coming over to talk ‘bridesmaid stuff’.
“When she comes, put on a happy face instead of that sulky expression!” warns Angela.

| "I want to help you" |
Chester goes to the garage, wanting something to do; Garry tells him that the garage is only open because one of Morris’s coaches broke down last night. Chester is aggrieved that Gethin has once more got his job back,

| "There was no need for him to be sacked in the first place!" |
but Garry reminds him, “We both know there was no need for him to be sacked in the first place! Go and help your mother in the chip shop.” Chester complains that he will not get paid for that. Gethin reports that the filters on the coach were blocked, so it is no wonder it broke down.
Gwyneth comes in, wondering why the garage is open; “The bus outside should give you a bit of a clue,” Garry suggests.

She wants to take Gwern to Bethania, but Garry objects, alleging that he and Dani are going to take him out this afternoon.

DJ triumphantly brandishes a phone number; “I did some research online, and bingo – the number of J Hobbs!”

Cadno, who apparently has already written to him, does not want to rush things.

Then Megan comes visiting, and tells her that Bethania want to put a brass plaque on Megan’s pew to commemorate her life.

Cadno thinks this a lovely idea.

When Dani comes to the garage, she is told of Gwyneth’s visit; “It’s too cold to go anywhere,” she replies, “But you, I and Gwern could go to Bethania – why not?” Garry reluctantly agrees.

Then Chester returns, as his mother thought he could wash cars or sweep up. When Garry encourages him to join then at Bethania, he is dead against the idea,

but he is given an ultimatum; “If you want to work here – you come! People should see you as a sensible, responsible young man.”

Gethin has sorted out the coach, which is now all ready for its trip to Bournemouth. He adds, “I’d like to go with them – Ffion is always going on about a holiday. She deserves it with all the stress about this disciplinary hearing.”

Surprisingly, Garry gives him the rest of the week off; “It will be nice for you and Ffion to have a break,” he says, then pointedly looks at Chester.

Dani is puzzled by Garry’s uncharacteristic generosity.

| "I don't know what Siôn is thinking these days" |
Megan tells Cadno, “I don’t know what sort of service Siôn has planned – I don’t know what he is thinking these days. I haven’t finalised my plans for the day yet.”

When she has gone, DJ asks why she is so upset with Siôn. Cadno answers, “What’s a chapel without a bit of bickering? Are you coming with us?”

DJ recalls he used to go to church in Kilkenny – usually with a hangover, but agrees to accompany them, to honour Marian’s memory.

| 'Bridal Bespoke' – sounds unnecessarily expensive |
Sioned is waxing lyrical about the dresses available from Bridal Bespoke, every design unique, but Courtney is busy texting. Angela objects to this, urging her to stop being so childish.

When Angela reaches over and grabs her phone, commenting there is no point in her being here, Courtney finally loses her temper.

“She can be so immature sometimes! Here we go – another tantrum!” Angela taunts her.

Furious, Courtney announces, “I am so fed up with your lies! You’re sick! Be honest, Mam, and tell Sioned what’s really going on!”

As no reply is forthcoming, she continues, “So I’ll tell her – Mam is sick, but not because of an aneurysm. There’s nothing wrong with her – I’m supposed to keep quiet, but I’m not going to any more! She’s been lying to all of us!”

Angela pretends not to know what her daughter is talking about.

| "It's been going on for months!" |
Sioned tells her that what she is saying is terrible, but Courtney replies, “What she’s done is terrible! It’s been going on for months – it’s all a lie!”

Angela orders her to shut up, but she will not be silenced. “Eifion’s ashamed of you!” she exclaims.
Angela is about to hit Courtney, but is stopped by Sioned, who incredulously demands,

“So you made it all up? You behaved as if you were ill for months? There’s something wrong with you! How long would you have kept up this act?”

Angela insists that she can explain; “When you hear how it started, you’ll understand, just like Mam did!” Sioned cannot believe that her mother and Jim knew about this.

Courtney reveals that they all think that Angela is delusional; “You’re right!” says Sioned, “She’s off her head!” and she walks out,

In the café, Ffion fancies the Cotswolds or Somerset for a holiday, and asks Gethin why Garry has given him this time off. “Well, Chester was there, and I think he felt awkward,” is the reply. Then they leave to go and support Siôn.

Megan, sitting nearby, remarks, “I don’t know if he needs support or to come to his senses. He has so much to offer, and I don’t want him making a mess of his life.”

Anita suspects that everyone is going, and tells Megan that she is too.

When she sees the villagers converging on the chapel, and Siôn with a large number of coloured balloons,

Megan grumbles, “What are they holding there? A service or a circus?”

Sioned returns to the flat and tells Ed what she has just learned; “I went to see Angela – she’s deceived us all – she’s not sick – she made the whole thing up!

“I don’t think there’s anyone I can trust – apart from you!” Ed understandably feels guilty.

Inside Bethania, Arwen has collected her balloon, as have Bobi and Arthur. Gwyneth brings round the biscuits and Welsh cakes;

“I see you changed your mind, Megan” she smiles.

Chester feels uncomfortable as this is the first time he has been in the chapel since the gun incident. Dani enquires why Gethin was given the time off;

Garry replies, “He deserves a break.”
“You feel sorry for them, do you, and then give jobs to this one, who’s lazy and gets on your nerves?” she enquires.

Siôn addresses the gathering, a chance to get to know each other; “It will be interesting to hear people’s reasons for coming here today.” He invites DJ to say a few words.

“I don’t usually attend chapel – I came to support Cadno and the boys and to remember Marian – this place meant a lot to her. A village without a chapel isn’t a village.”

Angela cannot comprehend what came over Courtney, telling Sioned like that; “She’ll probably tell Ed and goodness knows who else! I should have been more careful about her feelings.”

Eifion does not blame Courtney at all; “The awful truth is that you dragged us into this web of lies and deceit! Don’t look for another explanation for it going wrong!”

Angela then adopts victim mode; “Oh yeah, it’s all my fault – everyone else is a saint! I’m supposed to feel like dirt, so you can all feel better!”

Eifion cannot endure any more of this self-pity, so he goes out to find the company of normal people.

Gwyneth takes the microphone, explaining how she feels strongly about the worth of the chapel and the leadership of a good minister – someone who sees the good side. “Siôn’s that man, and that’s the kind of place that Bethania should be.

Megan remains stony-faced.

Iolo is the next speaker; he is glad that they can all meet, even though they have differences. “What matters most is that we help each other rather than being judgmental.”

Megan shakes her head.

Sioned admits, “I should have asked why she did such a thing, but I was in shock!”

Ed predicts that they will find out soon enough, and that this will cause a rift in the family. When the subject of the wedding is raised, Sioned is adamant, “I don’t want Angela there! No way!”

Ed muses, “I knew she had some dark secret – but I thought she knew something about Dewi. For me at the moment that’s more important than all her lies.
After the service, Anita describes it as an ‘interesting experiment’, but Megan wants to talk to her.

Siôn is reassured that no-one walked out or started a protest, and Iolo comments, “Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves –

Siôn prepares for the mass ascent of the balloons; “They will fly over Cwmderi and further afield, carrying the message of tolerance and hope.”

Meanwhile, Megan asks Anita what DJ, Gwyneth and Iolo have in common; “They all stood up and said they did not believe! This is a slippery slope – Bethania is supposed to be a chapel, not a youth club!”

Anita considers that a more Christian message would have been suitable, but Gwyneth only stated there were few things in the Bible which she questioned.

Megan’s mind is made up; “Gwyneth is a destructive person, and now is sharing Siôn’s home. She is dangerous and wants to control him – sharing in the running of Bethania is her way of doing that!”

Courtney tells Eifion what happened, adding, “Mam said I was immature, that I was in the way, and tried to hit me – but Sioned stopped her!” Angela, who has crept downstairs, protests that it is not true, but Courtney, insists, “Yes it is! I’m leaving!”

“Off you go,” Angela responds, “Things can’t get any worse!”
